Morris Academy Utah es un programa de inmersión en el cuál cada estudiante vive con una familia americana y hace la vida diaria con ellos por un mes entero.
Para garantizarnos de que la estancia sea en inglés 100% , cada familia acogerá únicamente a un estudiante en su casa.
Esto no es un programa donde los estudiantes asisten a clases de inglés durante todo el día y interactuan minimalmente con su familia. Los estudiantes estarán con su familia todos los días.
Durante el programa, los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de crear amistades fuertes con la familia acojida y especialmente con los hijos. Ellos participarán en las actividades tipicas que los Americanos hacen en el verano, y se sumergirán en el idioma inglés y la cultura Americana.
Morris Academy mantiene estrechos lazos con Utah y lleva más de 25 años con programas de inmersión en verano. Durante estos 25 años hemos trabajado muchísimo para establecernos como la principal académia de programas de inmersión en Utah, y para conventirnos un nombre muy reconocido y y de confianza para las familias en Utah. Conocemos Utah muy bien y nos encanta compartirlo con nuestros estudiantes.
Utah es un destino increíble – especialmente para los jóvenes. Las familias en Utah son grandes y jóvenes; no es raro que los padres tengan entre 30-35 años y tengan alrededor de 3-6 hijos. Además, la gente en Utah es muy activa y deportista. Muchos de ellos principalmente hacen actividades en el exterior como irse de camping, senderismo, descensos de cañones, nadar, y mucho más.
Por último, pero no menos importante, Utah es un lugar muy seguro. Los residentes locales están muy bien integrados, las tasas de delincuencia son uno de los menores en todo el país, y en cuanto a factores socioeconómicos, las comunidades donde viven nuestras familias estan entre los más altos.
Todas las familias son cuidadosamente seleccionadas por nosotros y nuestros amigos de Utah. Sabemos por experiencia que un programa de inmersión depende de la calidad y amabilidad de la familia anfitriona.
Nosotros garantizamos que la familia tendrá al menos un hijo del mismo genero y edad (+/- 1 año) que el estudiante. No obstante, la gran mayoría de las familias tienen 3-4 hijos, algo muy típico en Utah. Además, las familias en Utah también son muy acogedoras, cariñosas y dulces.
¿Por qué deciden recibir a un estudiante? Nuestras familias eligen recibir a un estudiante del País Vasco/ España porque quieren que sus propios hijos tengan experiencias con culturas diferentes. EEUU es un país con mucha diversidad, y muchos Americanos dan gran importancia a que sus hijos aprendan de culturas diferentes. ¿Y qué mejor forma de vivir una experiencia multiculural que acogiendo a un estudiante del extranjero por un mes?
Los estudiantes recibirán clases prácticas de inglés 1 vez a la semana en la universidad de BYU. Aprenderán sobre la historia y cultura de los Estados Unidos. Las clases las impartirán Mikel Morris (el fundador), Amaia Morris y Mazi Moinian.
De lo contrario, en el resto de la estancia los estudiantes vivirán y harán actividades con sus respectivas familias.
Los estudiantes suelen estar involucrados en muchas actividades durante el mes en Utah. Incluso, algunas familias apuntan a sus hijos y al estudiante en campamentos de verano ( 4-5 días ). Otros hacen viajes de un día (o incluso más largos) a destinos como Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, y otros.
Sin embargo, es muy importante que los estudiantes (y sus padres también) entiendan que en ningun caso se considera el programa de verano en Utah como una “vacación”. Los estudiantes tienen que demostrar mucho interés, curiosidad, y sobre todo, disposición de aprovechar todo el tiempo que tienen para practicar su inglés – independientemente del numero de actividades que hagan.

REQUISITES
- Have a genuine passion and interest in participating.
- Be between the ages of 15 and 18.
- Be a student at the ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education) or Baccalaureate level.
- Show a competent level of English proficiency.
- Maintain a strong academic record over the past three years.
- Display maturity and high motivation.
CONVALIDATION
We understand the importance of this experience, which, beyond fostering personal growth, offers the possibility of validating studies upon return, provided that the criteria set by the Ministry of Education are met.
The compatibility between the two educational systems eases the validation of the academic year, as long as the student completes the entire course.
Our commitment is to provide comprehensive guidance to the student at every stage of the process: from subject selection to ongoing support during the first and second semesters, including the handling of all necessary formalities in the United States. Furthermore, we personally take care of the coordination and costs associated with the validation of studies once the student has returned.
HOST FAMILY
The families involved in this program welcome our students into their homes, driven by a genuine desire to share their world and culture with a young person from abroad. It’s crucial to understand that these families are volunteers and do not receive financial compensation for their involvement.
In this context, they expect the student to fully integrate into their daily family life, embracing both the privileges and responsibilities that come with being an additional member of the family unit.
Each family is carefully chosen through interviews conducted by our Local Coordinator, under the watchful supervision of the corresponding American entity and the strict oversight of the Department of State.
The selection hinges on the family’s clear willingness to fully incorporate an international student into their daily routine and their desire to undergo a rich cultural experience.
The United States encompasses an impressive array of cities, towns, and regions, each with its distinctive traits. Students have the opportunity to be hosted in any state, depending on their personal profiles and the availability of host families.
TEST AND INTERVIEW
partake in this course, candidates must undergo a short interview and a proficiency test at our facilities. We are already in the process of conducting interviews and level assessments for those students who express interest in enrolling in this program.
